1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Mirror Reader, including the Mirror Reader mobile application, the website located at www.mirrorreader.com, and related features, content, support, and services (collectively, the "Services"). The Services are operated by Mirror Reader ("Mirror Reader," "we," "us," or "our").

By downloading, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Services.

Some parts of the Services may be subject to additional terms or notices, including our Privacy Policy, Apple App Store terms, in-app purchase terms, or feature-specific notices. Those additional terms are incorporated into these Terms where applicable.

2. Apple App Store Terms

If you download Mirror Reader from the Apple App Store, your download and use of the app is also governed by Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple Standard EULA") and other applicable Apple terms, unless a separate custom license is provided through Apple.

These Terms supplement the Apple Standard EULA and apply to the Services, accounts, content, support purchases, and related features provided by Mirror Reader. If there is a conflict between these Terms and Apple’s terms, Apple’s terms will control to the extent required by Apple or applicable law.

Purchases made through Apple In-App Purchase are processed by Apple, not by Mirror Reader. Apple may be responsible for payment processing, taxes, purchase history, refund handling, and other matters as described in Apple’s own terms and policies.

3. Eligibility

You may use the Services only if you can form a binding agreement with us and only in compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws.

Mirror Reader is not directed to children under 13. If you are under the age of majority in your location, you may use the Services only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

We may refuse, restrict, suspend, or terminate access to the Services if we believe that use of the Services violates these Terms, creates risk, or is unlawful.

4. Accounts and Sign-In

Some features may be available without creating an account. Account-based features, including synchronization across devices, may require you to sign in using email, Google, Apple, or another supported authentication method.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

If you use a third-party sign-in provider, such as Apple or Google, your use of that provider is also governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the operation of third-party authentication services.

5. Description of the Services

Mirror Reader is designed for reading and language learning. The Services may include public-domain books, generated covers, generated translations, reading progress, bookmarks, selected books, preferred language, font and theme settings, search history, recently opened books, favorites or library features, dictionary words, English test results, learning progress, and related features.

We may add, remove, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may also update the Services to improve performance, security, content quality, or legal compliance.

Availability of features and content may vary by device, operating system, account status, region, language, and app version.

6. Public Domain Books and Source Materials

Mirror Reader includes books that we believe are based on public-domain source materials. Public-domain status can vary by country, edition, translation, illustration, formatting, and other factors. We do not guarantee that every work, edition, or component is public domain in every jurisdiction.

Where source information is provided, it is provided for transparency and attribution. Source providers, archives, libraries, authors, publishers, and rights holders do not endorse Mirror Reader unless expressly stated.

If you export, copy, share, or reuse any book text or related material outside the Services, you are responsible for ensuring that your use is lawful in your location.

7. Generated Covers, Translations, and Adapted Content

Book covers, translations, formatting, learning materials, and other adaptations in Mirror Reader may be generated, edited, curated, or otherwise created by or for Mirror Reader. Except for underlying public-domain source texts and third-party materials expressly identified as belonging to others, Mirror Reader and its licensors retain all rights in the app, the Services, the generated covers, generated translations, curated collections, metadata, design, interface, and other protected content to the extent permitted by law.

You may not copy, scrape, redistribute, sell, upload, repackage, publish, or create a competing database or service using Mirror Reader content, generated covers, generated translations, metadata, or learning materials except as expressly allowed by these Terms or applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms restricts your lawful use of underlying public-domain source texts outside Mirror Reader. However, Mirror Reader’s generated translations, generated covers, curated presentation, app design, metadata, and learning features may be protected separately from the underlying public-domain works.

8. AI and Machine-Generated Translation Disclaimer

Translations and related language-learning content in Mirror Reader may be generated with AI assistance, machine translation, automated workflows, or human editing. They are provided for personal reading, educational, and language-learning purposes.

Mirror Reader translations are not official, authoritative, academic, legal, certified, or publisher-approved translations unless expressly stated. They may contain errors, omissions, mistranslations, stylistic issues, outdated wording, cultural inaccuracies, or other defects.

You should not rely on Mirror Reader translations as the sole source for academic citation, legal interpretation, professional translation, literary scholarship, or any high-stakes decision. You are responsible for evaluating whether a translation is suitable for your purposes.

9. Learning Features and Test Results

Mirror Reader may include vocabulary, dictionary, quiz, test, reading-progress, and language-learning features. These features are provided for general educational and personal use.

Any scores, test results, progress indicators, vocabulary lists, recommendations, or learning insights are not official certifications, academic credentials, exam results, professional assessments, or guarantees of language proficiency.

We may use your learning-related activity, such as dictionary words, reading progress, test results, and selected books, to provide the Services, personalize your experience, sync your data, improve app functionality, and operate analytics, as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. License to Use the Services

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access and use the Services for your personal, non-commercial reading and language-learning purposes.

This license does not give you ownership of the Services or any Mirror Reader content, software, design, generated cover, generated translation, curated collection, metadata, database, trademark, or other intellectual property.

All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by Mirror Reader and its licensors.

11. Restrictions on Use

You agree not to: (a) use the Services for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, abusive, or infringing purpose; (b) scrape, crawl, harvest, bulk download, copy, redistribute, reupload, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Services or Mirror Reader content; (c) use automated tools to access the Services except with our prior written permission; (d) reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, or create derivative software from the app except to the extent allowed by law; (e) bypass, disable, or interfere with security, access controls, usage limits, payment systems, or technical protections; (f) use the Services to build, train, evaluate, or enrich a competing product, dataset, AI model, translation database, or content service without our prior written permission; (g) remove copyright, trademark, attribution, or legal notices; (h) impersonate any person or entity; (i) upload or transmit malware, spam, or harmful code; or (j) interfere with the operation, availability, or security of the Services.

We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access where we believe it is appropriate or legally required.

12. User Content and Optional Future AI Features

The current Services may primarily provide pre-generated books, covers, translations, and learning content. If we make features available that allow you to upload, submit, paste, import, store, translate, annotate, or otherwise provide your own text, books, notes, files, prompts, or other materials ("User Content"), this section applies to that User Content.

You retain any rights you have in your User Content. By submitting User Content to the Services, you grant Mirror Reader a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, translate, format, display, transmit, and otherwise use the User Content solely as reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services, and as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy or feature-specific notices.

You represent that you have all rights and permissions needed to submit your User Content and to allow us to process it. You may not submit content that is unlawful, infringing, abusive, harmful, or that violates the privacy, publicity, intellectual property, or other rights of others.

If future AI features are made available, User Content submitted to those features may be processed by third-party AI, cloud, storage, or infrastructure providers as described in our Privacy Policy or feature-specific notices. Do not submit sensitive personal information, confidential information, or content you do not have the right to process through such features.

13. Optional Tips and Support Purchases

Mirror Reader may offer optional one-time tips or support purchases through Apple In-App Purchase. These purchases are voluntary and are intended to support the development and operation of Mirror Reader.

Unless expressly stated in the app at the time of purchase, tips and support purchases do not unlock additional features, content, rights, subscriptions, access levels, or services.

Tips and support purchases are not charitable donations, are not made to a nonprofit organization, and are not represented by Mirror Reader as tax-deductible donations.

Apple processes Apple In-App Purchases. Prices, taxes, currency conversion, payment authorization, receipts, refund eligibility, and refund handling may be managed by Apple according to Apple’s terms and policies. We may receive purchase-related information such as product identifiers, transaction status, purchase history, and refund or revocation status for app functionality, analytics, customer support, fraud prevention, accounting, and compliance.

14. Refunds

For purchases made through Apple In-App Purchase, refund requests are generally handled by Apple. We do not control Apple’s refund decisions, payment methods, or processing timelines.

Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable refund, cancellation, withdrawal, or consumer protection rights you may have under applicable law.

15. Privacy

Our collection, use, storage, and sharing of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy at https://www.mirrorreader.com/privacy. Please review it carefully.

The Services may collect or process account information, email address, reading progress, bookmarks, selected books, preferred language, font and theme settings, search history, recently opened books, favorites or library information, dictionary words, English test results, purchase-related information, device information, analytics, logs, crash data, and other information described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for ensuring that any information you submit to the Services is accurate and that you have the right to submit it.

16. Notifications and Communications

With your permission, Mirror Reader may send push notifications, including reading reminders, new-book notices, product updates, service messages, purchase-related messages, or other app-related communications.

You can usually manage push notification permissions in your device settings. Service-related or account-related communications may still be sent by email where necessary to operate the Services, protect security, or comply with law.

17. Third-Party Services

The Services may rely on third-party providers, platforms, and infrastructure, including Apple, Google, Supabase, Cloudflare, Firebase, Sentry, authentication providers, analytics providers, crash-reporting providers, payment processors, AI providers, cloud hosting, content delivery networks, and storage providers.

Third-party services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, websites, platforms, payment systems, authentication providers, or infrastructure outside our control.

Links to third-party websites, source archives, or services are provided for convenience and transparency. A link does not mean that Mirror Reader endorses or is endorsed by that third party.

18. Copyright and Content Complaints

We aim to use lawful source materials, generated covers, and generated translations. If you believe that content in Mirror Reader infringes your rights or should not be included, contact us at [email protected].

Please include enough information for us to identify the content, understand the claimed rights or concern, contact you, and evaluate the request. We may remove, disable, modify, or investigate content at our discretion or as required by law.

Submitting false, misleading, or abusive notices may have legal consequences. If you are unsure whether content infringes your rights, consider seeking legal advice before submitting a complaint.

19. Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions, comments, bug reports, feature requests, translations, corrections, or other feedback, you grant Mirror Reader a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, copy, modify, publish, distribute, and otherwise exploit that feedback for any purpose without obligation to compensate you or credit you.

Please do not send feedback that includes confidential information or materials you do not have the right to share.

20. Availability, Updates, and Changes to the Services

We do not guarantee that the Services will be available at all times, secure, uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device, operating system, region, or network.

We may update, modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue all or part of the Services at any time, including to improve the app, fix bugs, address security issues, update content, remove disputed content, comply with law, or change our business model.

We are not responsible for loss of access, data, settings, progress, bookmarks, dictionary words, test results, or content caused by device failure, account issues, software bugs, network problems, third-party service outages, user error, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

21. Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. If account deletion is available in the app, you may request deletion through the app. You may also contact us using the contact information below.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Services if we believe that you violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, misused the Services, infringed rights, attempted to interfere with the Services, or used the Services unlawfully.

Upon termination, your license to use the Services ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property rights, restrictions on use, payment-related provisions, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, dispute provisions, and general terms.

22. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, reliability, security, compatibility, and quiet enjoyment.

We do not warrant that the Services, public-domain source materials, generated covers, generated translations, AI-assisted content, learning features, test results, dictionary features, recommendations, or any other content will be accurate, complete, lawful in every jurisdiction, uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or suitable for your purposes.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers. In those jurisdictions, the disclaimers apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.

23. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mirror Reader and its owners, operators, affiliates, contractors, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or enhanced damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, loss of goodwill, business interruption, device failure, or cost of substitute services, arising out of or related to the Services or these Terms, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Services or these Terms will not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to Mirror Reader through the Services during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim; or (b) USD $100.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or non-waivable consumer rights where such limitations are prohibited.

24. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Mirror Reader and its owners, operators, affiliates, contractors, licensors, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to: (a) your use or misuse of the Services; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of law or third-party rights; (d) your User Content; or (e) your unauthorized use, copying, distribution, scraping, or exploitation of Mirror Reader content or systems.

We reserve the right to control the defense of any matter subject to indemnification, and you agree to cooperate with us.

25. Governing Law and Disputes

Except where mandatory local law provides otherwise, these Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services will be interpreted under the laws applicable in the place where Mirror Reader is primarily operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services will be resolved by a court of competent jurisdiction, unless applicable consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in another forum.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection laws in your country or region of residence. If Mirror Reader later identifies a specific governing law or venue, this section may be updated.

26. International Use, Export, and Sanctions

The Services may be available worldwide, but we do not represent that the Services or content are appropriate, lawful, or available in every location. You are responsible for complying with local laws that apply to your use of the Services.

You may not use, export, re-export, or transfer the Services in violation of applicable export control, sanctions, or trade laws.

27. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and may provide additional notice where required by law or where the changes are material.

Your continued use of the Services after updated Terms become effective means that you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Services.

28. General Terms

These Terms, together with any additional terms or policies incorporated by reference, are the entire agreement between you and Mirror Reader regarding the Services.

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect, and the invalid or unenforceable provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to do so later. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign or transfer these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, change of control, or by operation of law.

Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
